About this deal

Lady of Shadows” is the second novel in the “Lady of Darkness” series and was released in 2021. Show me your darkness, and she’ll show you hers. The shadows are calling, and the stars are fading. The darkness threatens it all. Our Lady of Darkness was originally serialised, in shorter form, and with the title The Pale Brown Thing, over two issues of the Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction (January/February 1977). The story was featured on the cover of the January issue with a painting by Ron Walotsky. [1] This is a high fantasy romance with all the creatures I love reading about, fae, shifters, creatures of the night (AKA, vampires), witches and humans. There is beautiful and complex world-building, with a rich history between Kings and Queens of different kingdoms and also has it's own set of gods and goddesses which I always love and absolutely devour. I also really enjoyed the magic systems. This world has various different types of magic, from elemental magic, to spellcasting, to more mysterious and obscure powers we're left guessing about. It's such a cool world and the author does a fantastic job constructing it all in detail. It's exactly what I wanted when I started it.

I liked Sorin and how level headed he was, I loved Nuri, she seemed like a baddie I wish we got more of her. Cassius was cool and Callan was sweet even though I felt bad for him. Character wise it was solid apart from 1… Fritz Leiber, despite being more widely known today for his science fiction and the sword and sorcery tales starring Fafhrd and the Grey Mouser, was also one of the most original and important horror authors in the history of the genre. His short stories from the 40's, such as "Smoke Ghost," "The Dreams of Albert Moreland," and "The Girl with the Hungry Eyes" -- along with his classic 1943 novel, Conjure Wife -- were groundbreaking, and cemented his status as the most influential American writer of horror and weird fiction in the post-Lovecraft 40's, paving the way for near-future greats like Bradbury, Beaumont, and Matheson. Whereas most supernatural fiction before Leiber was set in isolated places, he brought the paranormal into the streets of modern cities like Chicago and San Francisco, with some of the finest prose in speculative fiction. This duet is definitely one of the best I’ve read this year. The undying loyalty, protectiveness, and honor this group of individuals has was incredible. While they were dark, their work was important and necessary.

When Harlows dad suddenly passes, she is tossed into this underground world where The Lords of Darkness have fought against the crimes of England for decades. The Lords are a group of 5 people from 5 different prominant house in England. Harlow bravely takes her younger brothers spot to save him from this life of crime and murder. Unable to let go of her old life Harlow fights against the other 4 Lords and even plans their death.....unsuccessfully. When Harlow is stolen by a rival gang the Lords threaten to burn a city to the ground to find her. My rescue and the subsequent massacre that follows proves that those cold, dead hearts still beat for me–their Lady of Darkness.

A chosen that was never meant to be. Tessalyn Asura was just as forgotten as the realm. However when she finds herself being the personal Source to the Heir of the Endings, she ends up serving in the darkest Kingdom there is. The secrets inside of the Arius Kingdom are meant to be kept and learned, however this was never the life that she wanted. Fighting not just the fate that was thrust upon her, but also the temptation to lose herself to desire, Tessa is going to do anything to escape this new destiny. Until she begins realizing that their world was not nearly as forgotten as she believed, and she might be the reason why. There’s so much wrong with her character I could write examples for dayss. I just wish she was smarter, stronger and didn’t rely so heavily on the men around her.
