What a great new series starter for young readers. Aimed at ages 9-12 I can see this appealing to so many boys and girls. A girl who's 17% sabre-tooth polar bear, and out for revenge. How could any young reader resist a set up like this? And the adventures they have in this their second outing absolutely live up to the premise. I loved the first book 21% Monster Wanted. powerful. Dangerous ? And now I have throughly enjoyed the second book 21% Monster Ice Giant. This level is the fourth level to take place outside. The first level to take place outside is Level 10 and the second level would be Level 15. The level before this level is the third level to take place outside which is Level 20. Bestselling author Alexandra Christo, author of TikTok sensation To Kill a Kingdom, introduces her new book, The Night Hunt (Hot Key Books), a dark... What Lord Kelvin did was work out how old the Sun was. He knew its size and how much heat it produced. So, he could work out how long it could have been radiating heat. He was pleased to discover that the Sun could only be twenty million years old. Darwin’s ideas needed life to have been around for hundreds of millions of years. But without the sun, Lord Kelvin argued, there is no life. So, you have to have God to speed up evolution. But the four surviving members of Helix 51, the children who were the subjects of Xastris’s first experiments in mutation, are determined to stop them – even if it means they die trying. It’s not just what you know. To make a difference, you have to be able to explain it in the simplest possible way.

Darren Devin is different. He doesn’t fit in at school and everyone calls him a freak. He knows he’s different but doesn’t understand why until things go disastrously wrong and he meets Marek, who informs him that they were both created as part of a hideous experiment with DNA. Darren is 21% monster and Marek is 19% alien. Reluctantly, they team up to save each other’s lives. When Darren Devlin is arrested for destroying his school with his bare hands, it’s not just the police who are after him. Enter Marek Masters, 14 years old, 19% alien, and the most intelligent, most wanted “almost human” alive. Marek is here to tell Darren the truth – he is 21% monster, and together they must take down the secret organisation that created them. Like every great spy/hero novel we have tons of tech and gadgets, special abilities, the thrill of the chase, excitement and intrigue. Definite Alex Rider vibes which is brilliant.Yes, Potter went on to write some exceptional children’s books, but she was robbed of the opportunity to choose science instead of, or as well as, writing fiction. I absolutely loved this story it’s fresh and different buzzing with a top secret project Helix, and a virus and a DNA adapter. P.J. Canning is the next Anthony Horowitz, but with his own twist of action, adventure, monster and alien sci-fiction. I enjoyed the story but it doesn’t have a tidy enough ending for me. It is the beginning of a series and whilst I like to meet characters again in a sequel, I prefer each episode or adventure to be stand alone. At the end of this book, the scenario for the next story has already been set up, but apart from a decision to work together, not much from this story has been resolved.

The boys at Darren’s school aren’t very nice to him, and he has to run away from them, to his secret hiding place. Since Darren Devlin and Marek Masters joined forces, there has only been one thing on their minds - taking down XSP, the secret organisation that transformed them into genetically-modified superhumans. Even with 21% monster Darren's incredible strength, and 19% alien Marek's super intelligence, XSP is more than a match for them.Looking at what we know of the young Beatrix, she seems very much a potential scientist. She was shy, thoughtful and liked to invent secret codes only she could understand, but more than anything she loved to draw. She became exceptionally good at scientific drawings of animals, plants and fungi. Amazingly, through studying fungi, she identified that sometimes two different organisms live together in a way that makes them rely on each other to survive. This is called symbiosis. In this breathtaking sci-fi action thriller, the heroes are four youngsters whose DNA has been contaminated to make them part monster, part alien and part sabre-toothed polar bear. As they try to reconcile their human sides with their extraordinary superpowers, they face challenging ethical dilemmas and overcome seemingly insurmountable obstacles. a b Zemler, Emily (2019-08-05). "See Childish Gambino Join 21 Savage on 'Monster' at Lollapalooza". Rolling Stone . Retrieved 2020-11-15. I liked the strong sibling relationship between Darren and Daisy, his sister, and celebration of difference which both carry important moral messages. There is violence and fighting throughout this story; however, I think this is necessary to build the tension and drama and ultimately make this an appealing story for children. I would recommend this book for children aged 9+ and teenagers. This is a must read for those who enjoy sci-fi, technology and lots of action. When Darren is in prison he finds out why he is strong, and can roar, it’s because he is 21% percent monster, 19% percent alien.

I’m seriously recommending this book to all boys, and girls as they are really going to enjoy reading about Darren Devlin being 21% monster. The 2 boys bond and grow together, helping each other out with their struggles - whilst also trying to stay safe from Department 10 and their covert operation to capture them - the perfect villains. If nanotechnology, xenotechnology, cognitive disrupter balls, camo suits and interdimensional portals intrigue you, 21% Monster is an absolute must. Despite not having read the first book, (I will be fixing that shortly), it was clear we could see the characters develop in this one. I also liked the way the rag tag group are expending and each character brings their own skills and experiences even at their young ages. I am actually excited for book three already and I’m nearly 33! If that doesn’t tell you how good this book is I don’t know what will.
