As for the earbuds themselves, they have a low profile design to them. This means they’re thin enough that they won’t jut out too much from your ears. They have the same matte texture as the charging case, and they’re extremely light (4.8g each). That being said, they don’t feel cheap at all.
The X3 earbuds can last up to 6 hours on a single charge, which is rather amazing for a set of earbuds with such a small size. The charging case will offer an extra 18 hours of listening time before it has to be recharged, giving you a total of 24 hours of listening time. We’re also pleasantly surprised that Edifier managed to squeeze in a 350 mAh battery into the X3’s tiny charging case. Overall, I really like the design & styling. They are understated and will suit everyone regardless of your overall fashion style. I quite like the fact that some people would call them ‘boring’. It’s a plus, in my opinion. I don’t want everyone to notice I’m wearing a pair of decent headphones especially if I’m ever travelling through no so desirable areas. IP55 Waterproof Rating One downside is that at lower volumes, the bass was not as present. However, as you increase the volume, you will be able to hear some bass creeping in – thankfully, the Edifier X3 gets plenty loud. Edifier X3: Battery PerformanceIf you press left or right twice, you will go to the previous song. With 3x left or right you go to the next song. Edifier has opted to double occupancy positions. At the same time, you cannot adjust the volume with the touch. Edifier could have added much better volume control. This has really not been thought about. Charging box You can be understood by the person you are calling. Let's put that first. Although not in detail, the words can be distinguished for your conversation partner. Edifier X3 TWS Earbuds offer strong compatibility with both IOS and Android devices and adopt Bluetooth 5.0 technology for stable and powerful transmission, lower delay, and smoother connection for high sound quality. And you can enjoy music up to 10 meters long even with thin walls between you and your device. Taking it out from the box, I immediately realised how tiny it is. It is literally a petite sized earbuds, including the charging case. This may be good because it doesn’t take up much space in your bag or handbag, but it might be hard to find because of how small it is.
More specifically: the Edifier X3 TO-U Series once again sounds balanced, with more focus on treble than on the bass and lower mid-tones. The sound quality is excellent. The X3 earbuds feature Bluetooth 5.0 and the Qualcomm aptX codec, delivering CD-quality sound with good bass and crystal clear audio, all without any stutter or delay. The earbuds sound to have a warmer sound signature, which favours bass a little, but it is not overwhelming or unpleasant to listen to – I am a big fan of how these earbuds sound, especially considering the price-point. The price and feature list can’t be ignored, they’re a powerhouse in terms of a budget offering. And to feature such a good quality microphone for the price, thy can’t be sniffed at!
What is it like to use the Edifier TWS1?
Overall, the Edifier X3 True Wireless Earbuds are a very good quality, low cost pair of earbuds. The sound and build quality is excellent, they are very easy to use, the fit is very snug and comfortable and the charging time is very good. My only niggle, and I have found the same on several wireless earbuds from other manufacturers, is that they do not have any volume control on the earbuds.
The Edifier X3 TWS Earbuds are a great pair of no frills entry-level earbuds. But if there’s ever an X4 model coming, Edifier should include volume controls on the earbuds themselves. The build is good. Far better than I expected for such a budget pair of earbuds and I can see them lasting me for a very long time. The longevity of them would also entirely depend on the internal components of which I can’t really put through their paces, so only time will tell if they live up to my expectations. As often with budget earplugs, these earplugs fail with some wind. So on the bike you hope you don't get a call. Admittedly, there are very few earplugs that pass that test well.The Edifier X3 features aptX-encoded ultra-low latency technology of just 65ms, so audio is ahead of video or game. Every word from our editor is understandable, yes. But is it good enough for video conferencing? No. Often times, people who are going to use earplugs for business want a better microphone than this. The sound is decent. But it does leave something to be desired. Let's start with the latter. The Edifier X3 does not have enough bass. The low notes are there, but they are underrepresented. Your most powerful song is somewhat weakened with these X3 earbuds. And that is of course a shame. If you are really a sound freak, you better go for other earplugs.
To control Edifier X3 there is a high-precision touchpad on the top of the earphone handle which can achieve precise control with highly responsive touch sensitivity. The control consists of turning on / off the headphones, answering / keeping / rejecting a call, turning on / off the music, waking up the voice assistant, and other operations but does not have the function of customizing touch or increasing and reducing volume.If you’re looking for a pair of true wireless earbuds that sound great and are affordable, the Edifier X3 are a fantastic option. I am very impressed with the sound they deliver, and they come in a compact and portable form-factor.
